“Surreal Appalachia: The Works of Michelle Walker & Bobbie Polizzi”

Michelle Walker, of Waynesville, blends oils with real life butterfly & moth wings to create mystical flying creatures & cold stark landscapes. Beautifully delicate yet bordering on morbid, Walker’s work is a unique blend of the classical and the apocalyptic, reminiscent of Salvador Dali, Hieronymus Bosch, and HR Geiger.

Bobbie Polizzi, of Hendersonville, takes the discarded — antiquities, baby dolls, found objects — & combines them to create powerful sculptural works. Whimsical yet undeniably bizarre, Polizzi’s pieces evoke a sense Victorian-era religious iconography, through the eyes of a Tim Burton or Bosch.

The Opening Reception will be held Friday, Oct. 5 from 6-9p [in conjunction with Art After Dark]. Both artists will be on hand to discuss their work. Wine & hors d’oeuvres will be served. Please join us & experience the “other side” of art here in the mountains.

And on Saturday Sept 8th from 11am-3pm, Two Six Two artist Pamela Haddock will be doing a live watercolor demonstration in gallery.  Watch as she creates one of her stunning, award-winning paintings, sharing her views on her work and answering questions.

The 3rd Annual Popcorn Sutton Summer Jam promises to be THE premiere event of the season.  This year’s festival has expanded to two days of live music, local craftspeople, food vendors and more. From bluegrass to country to rock to Americana, this’ll be a virtual who’s-who of mountain culture!  bring the whole family & celebrate the life and times of Popcorn!  Only $2 per person per day

Gallery Two Six Two will be selling handcrafted items by local artisans, as well as sharing a booth with the Dixie Beard & Moustache Society, a local non-profit bearding team that will be raising money for the club and their partner non-profit organization, Warrior Service Dogs.    For more info on these groups, go to:

The 1st Annual Cinco de Beardo Beard & Moustache Contest!  You really don’t want to miss this!

Saturday May 5th at the Tipping Point Tavern in Waynesville, the first annual competition is being held and we are helping to sponsor it!  The party will begin early, with sign-ups for the contest ending at 8pm and the competition to follow soon after.  It is FREE to enter the contest, and in addition to bragging rights prizes will be awarded for each category.

Food and drink specials, all your local bearded & ‘stached fellas competing, and there’s even a Ladies faux-beard & ‘stache category — Cinco de Mayo will never be the same again!  Come down and celebrate with us…
